Cornerstone OnDemand Expands People Analytics Offerings to Help Companies Measure Employee Engagement and Benchmark Performance

New Cornerstone Engage and Cornerstone Benchmark products enable smarter, data-driven decision-making to help companies improve organisational health and drive workforce strategy

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — 6 June 2017 — Cornerstone OnDemand (NASDAQ:CSOD), a global leader in cloud-based learning and human capital management software, today announced the addition of two new people analytics applications, Cornerstone Engage and Cornerstone Benchmark. Designed to give organisations deeper, real-time insight into their workforce, both products enable HR and business leaders to make more strategic talent decisions that can have a positive impact on business results.

“With more than 17 years of cloud-based data, Cornerstone is at the forefront of applying analytics to workforce business decisions,” said Adam Miller, founder and CEO of Cornerstone OnDemand. “Our people analytics applications give our clients real-time insights into their workforces, removing the reliance on guesswork and intuition and enabling them to more quickly take action for the health and success of their organisation.”

Drive Positive Organisational Health Through Engaged Employees
Part of the Cornerstone Performance Suite, Cornerstone Engage was developed in recognition of the profound effect an engaged workforce can have on a company’s bottom line. The application enables organisations to measure key employee engagement factors, such as sentiment toward office culture and satisfaction with direct managers. Through quick pulse surveys and traditional annual surveys, employees can provide their honest, confidential feedback online or on their mobile phones, making the process more accessible to employees who don’t have access to computers. Once organisations capture these real-time insights, they can use a flexible dashboard to drill down and analyse the results. With these insights, organisations can pinpoint areas of opportunity, develop effective action plans and track changes to ensure they’re addressing employee concerns and driving positive culture and growth.

Cornerstone Engage is the only employee engagement product that is fully unified within a human capital management suite. This means organisations can quickly and easily implement Cornerstone Engage without having to clean up or import existing employee information. In upcoming releases, organisations will also be able to analyse employee feedback alongside data from other Cornerstone products, like Cornerstone Performance and Cornerstone Learning, to pinpoint specific drivers that are impacting engagement.

Cornerstone clients such as The Bon-Ton Stores, Electrolux and The Peninsula Hotels are starting to use Cornerstone Engage to understand what motivates their employees and build specific action plans to improve organisational health. In addition to uncovering critical employee insights, these organisations are giving their employees an open feedback channel to ensure their voices are being heard.

“One of the best ways to provide optimal customer service is to ensure our employees are happy,” said Denise Domian, senior vice president of human resources at The Bon-Ton Stores. “With Cornerstone Engage, we’re opening a direct line of communication with our employees, from our executives to our sales associates. We want to get their honest feedback regularly and in a way that’s convenient for them – whether online or on their smartphones. With their feedback, we can dig into the results and look for opportunities to make positive organisational changes faster and more often.”

Benchmark Organisational Performance to Make Better Workforce Decisions
Internal and external benchmarking are critical tools for helping organisations initiate a data-based approach to decision-making. However, benchmarking can be a manual, time-consuming and costly process. Only 35 percent of companies say they use benchmark data to measure their performance and make workforce decisions[1].

Leveraging petabytes of Cornerstone’s workforce data from more than 3,000 clients and more than 31 million users worldwide, Cornerstone Benchmark, part of the Cornerstone HR Suite, automates the benchmarking process to make it more useful, accurate, timely and cost-effective for organisations.

Using Cornerstone Benchmark, organisations can identify and compare key HR and talent metrics against their internal teams, such as measuring the IT department against the Finance department, or measure against external organisations, such as comparing industry peers or companies in the same geographical location. With these real-time insights, organisations can answer critical questions about their organisation’s health, including:

• Workforce Diversity – How gender-diverse is my workforce? How does that compare to other companies in my industry?
• Employee Trends – What is the average tenure of my employees? Is my organisation experiencing high levels of turnover compared to others in my industry?
• Learning and Development – How do my training completion rates compare over time? Is training compliance a risk at my company compared to others in my market?
• Recruiting – How does my recruiting spend compare to other companies in my region? Is my company finding talent faster than others in my industry?

To ensure complete privacy, all Cornerstone Benchmark data is anonymised and aggregated before it is shared externally, per strict data privacy policies[2].

Cornerstone clients such as Comerica, SiteOne, Tractor Supply Company, The Warranty Group and Wayne Country Airport Authority are starting to use Cornerstone Benchmark to discover these types of critical workforce trends, and, where applicable, take action. By analysing and identifying specific tendencies and disparities, these organisations will have real-time, transparent data to back up important workforce decisions.

“Since partnering with Cornerstone in 2010, we’ve had the tools to manage our growing workforce more efficiently,” said Matthew Oddo, director of HR administration and technology at Tractor Supply Company. “We’re looking forward to using the workforce data from those tools to glean critical insights about our business, share those insights across the organisation and find opportunities to drive workforce retention and expansion.”
