Omnigon Communications and USTA Announce “Follow Me to the US Open” Top 128 Finalists

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 08/31/11 — Over the past few months, the USTA “Follow Me to the US Open” contest has given tennis fans a whole new way to stay connected to their favorite sport and events. The USTA, in partnership with Omnigon Communications, created Follow Me to the US Open in hopes of providing an outlet for a generation of fans that interact predominantly through social media. As we approach the final two weeks of the contest, the number of participants has grown to over 7,000! All are competing to win the grand prize trip to the 2012 US Open, and a one-hour hitting session in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

On August 24th, 2011, the top 128 eligible participants who had accumulated the highest point total over the qualifying round were seeded into a tournament-style bracket to battle it out for the next two weeks. The bracket will coincide with the progression of the US Open tournament with 7 rounds including a Quarterfinal, Semi-Final and Final. Each round will last for two days during the tournament and on September 11th, the final day, the grand prize winner will be -crowned-. During these two weeks participants will continue to earn points, but the intensity level will grow as each participant only has two days to earn enough points to make it on to the next round.

The excitement surrounding the Follow Me to the US Open contest has proven that social media can connect fans to a sport that many have admired for years, but have not always had the opportunity to feel a part of until now. The participation by loyal fans and celebrity influencers like “30 Rock” star and stand-up comedian have not gone unnoticed. There have been multiple mentions and buzz across top media sources including , , , as well as a nomination for Web Site Excellence by the .
